Creating Safe, Cost-effective Correctional Complexes with Simplex

Correctional facilities can be a challenging environment for fire protection systems. A complex mix of uses and occupancy types, they often include; multi-building campuses; large, open spaces with high ceilings such as cafeterias and gymnasiums; residential areas; food storage and preparation areas; and laundry facilities. Installation and maintenance is further complicated by limited access to equipment and spaces, and the risk of equipment tampering destruction. But when two Midwest correctional facilities sought to upgrade their fire and life safety networks as part of an expansion, Simplex engineers found a way to add vital new capabilities, including centralized management, to tie the 11-building and 13-building campuses together using ES Net, an advanced, IP-based network.
